Mr.
Pat Palkon, a parishoner of Holy Ghost in South Holland, spoke to Mr. J's
6th and 7th graders on May 2. His educational presentation described his
experience of walking the Appalachian Trail in 2001. This discussion of
his 2100 mile journey easily kept the full attention of our students. He
displayed the equipment used for this trip and the preparations necessary
to make it a sucessful acheivement. Our prayers and moral support reach
out to him next week as he begins a walk from Campo, California to the Canadian
border along the Pacific Cascade Trail....a distance of over 2600 miles!
