Physics Van
On Friday, February 13th, the Physics Van from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign visited our school and brought a wealth of science information to share with our students. The UIUC Physics Van is a traveling science show for kids. By performing and explaining exciting physics demonstrations, they show audiences that science is fun and worthwhile for people who wonder about why the world acts the way it does. Megan Reilly, a 2003 graduate from Saint Joseph's, is a member of the Physics Van and helped to make the visit possible. The Van travels to elementary schools as an outreach program of the University of Illinois. Our students learned about liquid nitrogen, states of matter, Newton's Laws, air, electricity, light and sound. The students left the gym with a new way of looking at science! For more information about the Van, visit their website at http://van.physics.uiuc.edu.
